When you view the images from other photographers, try to imagine where the light is coming from. Dissect the photograph and try to imagine what settings he or she used. Look for where the light is coming from, and whether or not artificial lighting was used, like a flash.

Just look at a picture and think where the subject is and try to view the picture from a technical aspect. You will find that doing this exercise will improve your photography a lot.
