Hold Your Camera Like A Pro

It’s very important to stabilize the camera to obtain a sharp image. I’m sure you’ve handled cameras before and maybe weren’t aware that there was a proper way to hold the camera. You definitely want to stabilize the camera as much as possible.

You’re going to wrap your right hand around the camera, so that you hold the lens as well as your finger will be on the shutter release. And then your left hand will come underneath or on the bottom of the lens. Then steady your left elbow into your body to try to use your body as a tripod.

When you press the camera against your face you’ll have three points of contact between the camera and your body. That’s basically what every pro does when they shoot. You’ll get better pictures holding the camera that way.

So once you’ve stabilized the camera, fire the shutter. When you press the shutter halfway and you’re looking through the viewfinder, everything is going to light up, all your settings. There is a lot of information in there.

Your focus points are going to come up. That’s how you determine how you compose your photograph. Choose your focus point, or just use the center focus point, which is fine. Once you’ve decided that you’ve composed your photograph correctly press the shutter the rest of the way and you’ll take the picture.
